  • The Musician

This chapter charts the performance history, technical stage configurations, and lifelong sonic evolution of Terrell X—operating both as a powerhouse solo one-man band and a multi-disciplinary master collaborator.

“ADVANTAGES OF BOOKING ME, I AM COMPELLED TO TELL!”

This declaration from his catalog highlights the unparalleled artistic value of TERRELL X—the veteran hip-hop artist who built a formidable, uncompromising artistic identity under the name Carnage The Executioner. A master of room-reading intuition, Terrell possesses the rare expertise to command any environment, seamlessly channeling his raw energy to fit rowdy club venues, intimate listening rooms, jazz spaces, major theater stages, and diverse instrument festivals alike.

No two performances are ever the same, driven by a live configuration that thrives on absolute flexibility. Terrell commands the stage across three distinct setups: as a powerhouse solo one-man band utilizing a looper, an effects pedalboard, and two microphones; backed by a live DJ injecting turntable samples over his beatboxed soundscapes; or fronting a full live band. His kaleidoscope live set heavily relies on altered, live-remixed arrangements from his deeply personal magnum opus, Transformation To Terrell X. This album, celebrated for its vulnerable, high-level storytelling, serves as the foundation for his shows—replacing traditional backing tracks with layered loops and heavy ’80s-inflected atmospheres.

Beyond his standalone sets, Terrell is a master collaborator and event curator who conceives and hosts ongoing, concept-driven performance series. His expansive collaborative circle bridges seemingly disparate worlds—sharing stages and projects with professional actors ranging from improvisation ensembles to scripted dramatic performers, as well as jazz ensembles, burlesque artists, aerialists, breakdancers, opera singers, tap dancers, and soul vocalists. As a premier vocal scratcher, his processor-boosted range allows him to act as the sole "turntable" in intense scratch conversations with tables of up to six physical DJs. He regularly pairs his vocal rhythms with live beatmakers, bucket players, and diverse instrumentalists—including brass sections, cellists, marimba players, and guitarists (his favorite instrument). A prolific executive producer and natural collaborator, Terrell channeled this expansive vision into founding the genre-bending artist collective Hecatomb, independently driving the release of nearly 30 albums through Hecatomb Industries since 2004.

Terrell’s creative reach also extends heavily into multimedia storytelling; he recently joined an ensemble crew scoring independent films and serves as a core narrator for a horror-inspired, old-time radio collective podcast. With three decades of global touring across the United States, Europe, Mexico, and Southeast Asia, Terrell’s career represents a continuous, conscious evolution. While his primary focus remains high-tier venue performance, he balances his active touring schedule by bringing this same stage-honed discipline into select educational residencies, empowering the next generation to find their own powerful voices.

Terrell’s dedication to evolution and equity extends deeply into his personal life. A proud survivor of childhood poverty who endured the foster care system, he is a former social worker who draws raw inspiration from his past to practice deep self-reflection and vulnerability. Unapologetic when demanding justice for all, Terrell stands firm in his advocacy for positive self-expression. Following a profound 155-pound weight loss journey, he adopted a vegan lifestyle and now actively partners with vegan organizations to advocate for animal rights. Through his powerful artistry and intentional choices, Terrell delivers an unforgettable experience—proving that our past shapes us, but our potential defines us.

  • The Educator

This chapter documents the community-driven origin, two-decade teaching tenure, and foundational social-emotional philosophy behind Terrell X’s specialized music and theater residency programs.

“WE ARE WHO WE ARE, BUT WHAT MORE CAN WE BECOME?!”

This central question fuels the work of TERRELL X—the hip-hop artist and educator who built his formidable artistic identity under the name Carnage The Executioner. As a human beat boxer, storyteller, and musician with three decades of performance experience, Terrell has commanded stages across the United States, Europe, Mexico, and Southeast Asia. Alongside his highly active live performance and touring career as a one-man band with a looper/effects pedalboard and two microphones, Terrell has dedicated over two decades to teaching. Over his extensive time on the road, he discovered that the core attributes making a great performer—focus, discipline, creativity, and resilience—are the exact foundational tools young people need to build lasting self-assurance.

Driven by this realization, Terrell channels his stage expertise into a dedicated educational mission, using focused and adaptable music instruction to guide students toward discovering and amplifying their unique voices. His primary educational work centers on developing and facilitating dynamic, interactive beat boxing residencies, followed closely by potent songwriting programs tailored for schools, libraries, and youth organizations. Designed as entirely no-judgment spaces, these songwriting sessions are built for all experience levels—welcoming complete beginners and seasoned creatives alike, looking to explore music through Terrell's unique, non-traditional methods.

To complement his music instruction, Terrell also brings specialized theater teaching experience to select projects. In these theater programs, he guides students through collaborative playwriting to draft original short plays, while showing them how to build immersive worlds by composing live, hands-on soundscapes and original theme music with a distinct '80s feel.

Through every specialized program, Terrell intentionally pairs technical training with critical life skills, emphasizing personal self-expression, teamwork, leadership, and positive mindset development. Whether leading a high-energy school assembly, a large-class ongoing residency, or a small after-school workshop, his ultimate goal remains consistent: to reveal to every student that they already possess the inner tools necessary to create something truly powerful and meaningful.
