“Watching Terrell X work with our 2nd–5th graders was a masterclass in what authentic teaching artistry looks like. He is the rare kind of artist who is both extraordinarily talented and genuinely present with kids — holding a large, energetic group with calm authority and warmth, never raising his voice, never losing the room. Every student felt seen. Every student found an entry point.
His beatboxing instruction was a revelation. Rigorous enough to showcase the depth of his real craft, yet broken down so accessibly that absolute beginners walked out feeling like performers. It was captivating, enlightening, and built so that every kid — regardless of background, confidence, or skill — found a way in.
But what made the residency unforgettable wasn’t just his talent. It was how genuinely he showed up.
